A former judge from Berdyansk was sentenced to prison for passing information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces to Russia

The court sentenced a former judge to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for collaborating with Russia’s FSB and passing information about the Ukrainian military during the full-scale war.

In the spring of 2022, following the occupation of Berdiansk, the judge independently made contact with a representative of the Russian special services and began working for the enemy.

According to the investigation, while carrying out FSB assignments, she collected and passed on information about the movements of Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region, provided data on fighters from the “Azov” unit, and gathered information about employees of courts and medical facilities in Berdyansk who supported Ukraine.

Additionally, according to the case file, she fostered loyalty to the occupying authorities among her colleagues and facilitated the recruitment of an illegal pseudo-unit of the “Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations” in Berdyansk.

After leaving for territory controlled by Ukraine, the woman headed the district court in Poltava Oblast and continued to administer justice on behalf of Ukraine.

In May 2023, she was exposed by law enforcement. She was subsequently notified of the charges against her, the High Council of Justice removed her from her position as a judge, and criminal proceedings began.

The court found her guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason under martial law) and sentenced her to 15 years in prison and the confiscation of all her property.

Until the verdict becomes final, the convicted person will remain in custody without the right to bail.

The verdict emphasizes that breach of oath and deliberate collaboration with the enemy constitute a grave crime during wartime.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

Earlier in the Kharkiv region, a court found a resident of the Kupianskyi district guilty of treason and attempting to set fire to a Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicle. According to the prosecutor’s office, the man attempted to burn military vehicles and directed Russian strikes on the Kupiansk region, allegedly “in revenge for Kursk.” By court order, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The Samarivsky Court in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast found the former head of the financial and economic service of one of the combat brigades, which is carrying out missions in the Zaporizhzhia direction, guilty.
