In Kyiv, following a court hearing, Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran Viktor Lakhno, known by the call sign “Leleka,” threw several tomatoes at Mykola Tyshchenko, a member of parliament from the “Servant of the People” party. Video of the incident quickly spread across social media. The veteran himself confirmed that he was the man in the footage.
After the court hearing, a scuffle broke out outside the courthouse involving MP Mykola Tyshchenko and Viktor Lakhno, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The video shows Lakhno approaching the MP and beginning to throw tomatoes at him. After that, Tyshchenko abruptly moves toward him and, judging by the released footage, tries to catch up with the veteran. However, he was unable to do so.
Videos of the incident began circulating widely on social media. Viktor Lakhno also posted them himself. In a comment to journalists, the veteran confirmed that the man in the video is him. “He asked for it himself,” Lakhno said briefly, commenting on the situation.
The footage shows that after the tomatoes were thrown, a verbal altercation broke out between the men. Tishchenko then tried to catch up with the veteran, but the latter quickly walked away, and there was no physical contact between them.
The incident occurred immediately after the conclusion of a court hearing involving the member of parliament. As of the time of publication, there were no other official comments from those involved in the incident or from law enforcement officials. Meanwhile, the video continues to circulate widely on social media, where users are actively discussing the incident.
The High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure on Member of Parliament Mykola Tyshchenko, who is suspected in a case involving alleged “settling of matters” with call centers. The court set bail at 10 million hryvnias and imposed a number of procedural obligations on the lawmaker.
