Yermak outlines next steps in talks on the U.S. Peace Plan
Ukrainian and U.S. delegations will continue negotiations on the U.S. peace plan later this week. Ukraine needs to build on and consolidate the results achieved in Geneva, according to Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Yermak emphasized that “it is important not to lose productivity and to work quickly.” The key shared goal with partners “remains unchanged – achieving a lasting and dignified peace for Ukraine as soon as possible.”
As in Geneva, preparations are underway for the most constructive talks possible with the U.S., which, according to Yermak, will help achieve tangible progress in defining steps to end the war.
“Thanks to the American team for working without pause. Peace must become a joint achievement,” he added.
Earlier, in October, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff held a phone conversation with Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov, during which he reportedly advised Russia on how to present its proposals for a “peace agreement” to Donald Trump and how the Russian leader could flatter the U.S. president.
The special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, became embroiled in a scandal after a recording of his conversation with the Russian official Ushakov leaked, in which he allegedly disrupted the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
