The EU has appointed a new head of the Advisory Mission in Ukraine
The Council of the European Union has appointed Cornelia Taylor as the new head of the EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUAM).
This was reported by the EU Council’s press service.
Cornelia Taylor will take up her duties on July 1, 2026, succeeding Rolf Holmboe in this position. The decision on the appointment was adopted by the Political and Security Committee on May 28.
Cornelia Taylor is a German lawyer with over 20 years of experience working in international missions. She has held senior positions within UN and EU structures in Kosovo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Afghanistan.
Since February 2024, she has served as Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and has also acted as Head of Mission.
The EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUAM) is a civilian mission without executive powers, established in 2014 to support reforms in the areas of justice, security, the rule of law, and Ukraine’s European integration.
After 2022, the mission’s mandate was expanded.
The mission also supports the investigation of international crimes related to Russia’s war against Ukraine, assists with border management, provides support in de-occupied territories, counters hybrid threats, and facilitates the reintegration of veterans.
EUAM has offices in Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa, as well as a mobile unit. The mission’s staff consists of over 400 international and local employees.
Earlier, Estonian President Alar Karis appointed Tiina Intellmann as Estonia’s new ambassador to Ukraine. She will succeed Anneli Kolk, who has represented the country in Kyiv since September 2023.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Oleksandr Balanutsa as Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
