Prosecutor Kropiva, a suspect in a NABU investigation, secured a pension of 300,000 through the courts at the age of 42
Serhiy Kropiva, who is 42 years old, has reported pension payments totaling nearly 300,000 UAH for the second year in a row. The deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation at the Office of the Prosecutor General is implicated in the NABU wiretap recordings and is suspected of establishing a criminal organization.
In 2024, the law enforcement official reported a pension of 165,200 UAH, and in 2025, a pension of 283,300 UAH.
From the court registry, our editorial team learned that in April 2022, Serhiy Kropiva filed a lawsuit against the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police, where he had served as deputy chief until the end of December 2021. The essence of the lawsuit concerned the defendant’s obligation to calculate Kropiva’s years of service, which entitles him to a pension. Specifically, he requested that one month be counted as three months of service during his time as part of the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo from July 2006 to December 2007 (at that time, Kropiva was a patrol officer in the operational platoon of a special peacekeeping unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine).
The plaintiff also sought to have one month credited toward his service record for every one and a half months of work as an investigative officer in the Juvenile Crimes Division of the Zolotonosha City Police Department in Cherkasy Oblast (July–October 2005) and his service in units combating crimes related to human trafficking within the Ministry of Internal Affairs (specifically, the periods from October 2005 to July 2006 and from December 2007 to July 2011).
The court case file indicates that prior to the full-scale invasion, Serhiy Kropiva submitted a written request to the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police asking for a recalculation of his seniority-based pension. At the time of his voluntary resignation from the police force (late December 2021), the current suspect had 20 years and 4 months of service. However, the Cyberpolice Department refused to count one month of service for every three months Kropiva spent as part of the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, and one month of service for every one and a half months worked at a police station in Cherkasy Oblast and other units of the internal affairs agencies.
Nevertheless, through the Kyiv District Administrative Court (dissolved in mid-December 2022), the plaintiff ultimately compelled the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police to perform the appropriate calculations, which ultimately allowed him to increase his length of service to 25 years, 6 months, and 18 days.
Kropiva’s former employer attempted to appeal this decision in the appellate court but failed to pay the court fee of 1,400 UAH, and the appeal was dismissed without consideration.
In March 2023, Serhiy Kropiva filed a lawsuit against the Main Directorate of the Pension Fund in Kyiv over the refusal to grant him a pension based on years of service. In late November 2023, the Kyiv District Administrative Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, finding the Pension Fund’s refusal to be unlawful and ordering it to pay the pension. According to the court’s decision, Kropiva was granted a pension for length of service effective December 13, 2021, in accordance with the law on pension benefits for persons discharged from military service and certain other individuals, Glavkom reports.
As a reminder, the suspect, Prosecutor Kropiva, oversaw renovations at the Prosecutor General’s residence in Kozin.
It was previously reported that NABU and the SAPO are conducting a large-scale special operation at the Office of the Prosecutor General in a case involving possible “protection” of fraudulent call centers.
Prosecutor General Kravchenko disappeared after the NABU and SAP operation began. According to sources in political circles speaking to UP, Kravchenko drove into the government quarter, after which no one saw him.
Later, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko resurfaced and stated that he had nothing to do with covering up for illegal call centers and had not given any instructions to facilitate their operations.
