A GUR intelligence officer recorded a song with Pavlo Zibrov
A special operations officer from the Main Intelligence Directorate, codenamed “Ninth,” and Ukrainian singer Pavlo Zibrov recorded a joint song titled “We Are an Island.” The song was released in honor of Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Day.
The song is a collaborative creative effort between a military intelligence officer and a well-known artist.
The new track is dedicated to the history of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the intelligence officers’ combat missions, and the families waiting for every Ukrainian defender at home.
A Fresh Take and the Story Behind Its Creation
The song “Invisible Heroes” by Pavlo Zibrov served as the basis for this new work. The idea to create a joint adaptation came to the intelligence officer “Devyaty” last year, but the final release coincided by chance with the professional holiday of military intelligence officers.
According to the special forces soldier, he wanted to infuse the track with life, energy, and the chaos characteristic of reconnaissance operations.
“For me, a track I want to listen to today has to be the kind you can have a good fight with someone to. I wanted to infuse this song with life and energy—so that the people it’s written about would burst into the track and have their say. As true reconnaissance soldiers, we added some commotion and chaos,” noted “The Ninth.”
Collaboration Between an Artist and a Soldier
Pavlo Zibrov emphasized that the participation of someone with real combat experience added a special edge and candor to the song. The track took on a modern sound while retaining its original, profound meaning.
“There are things you can’t imagine or fully grasp unless you’ve lived through them yourself. And when someone who’s been to war and knows it from the inside brings their own emotions and experiences to the music, you can feel it,” the singer said.
The new track is now available for streaming on all platforms, including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Prior to this, SBU and GUR officials were served with notices of suspicion regarding the shooting in Kyiv.
Earlier, information about a possible shooting in Kyiv had circulated on social media. According to eyewitness reports, law enforcement officials were spotted at the scene.
