The General Staff is moving military training to Ukraine due to a lack of experience among its partners
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has begun the process of shifting military training to within Ukraine, discontinuing some of its overseas programs.

As reported on March 22, 2026, by Yevhen Mezhivikin, Deputy Chief of the General Staff’s Main Directorate for Doctrine and Training, the main reason for this decision is the disconnect between Western instructors and the realities of modern warfare. According to the Ukrainian command, foreign specialists often lack the relevant combat experience necessary to counter Russian tactics under current frontline conditions.
In addition to the professional inadequacy of some programs, legal restrictions on partner countries—which cannot always quickly amend their legislation to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army—have become a significant factor. Moving training directly to Ukraine significantly reduces the time spent on logistics and the movement of personnel between countries. This allows the command to respond more quickly to changes in the operational situation and implement the latest combat methods gained during recent clashes in the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions.
