The Public Council under the Ministry of Defense has called for Umerov's removal
The Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has called for the removal of Rustem Umerov from his post as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
This is stated in the council’s statement.
The Public Anti-Corruption Council believes that Umerov’s actions while serving as Minister of Defense, particularly in the context of his interactions with businessman Timur Mindich and the company Fire Point, may constitute abuse of power and disclosure of state secrets.
The statement also notes that Mindich’s actions may contain signs of abuse of influence and incitement to misuse funds.
The council suspects that Fire Point may have provided false information about its beneficiaries. If this is legally confirmed, the company could lose the right to supply products to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Public Council of the Ministry of Defense calls on the state leadership to distance itself from individuals who may have used their official positions for personal gain, and proposes establishing a working group to audit the company’s contracts and pricing.
In addition, the Public Council proposes that the president initiate the partial nationalization of Fire Point and declares its readiness to participate in the relevant investigation.
