The Shehyni–Medyka border crossing will operate with restrictions due to renovations

A temporary reduction in traffic capacity is expected at the Medyka–Shehyni border crossing due to road resurfacing on the Polish side.

This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service.

The repair work will last about 5 weeks and will cover both inbound and outbound lanes. Traffic is planned to be organized in stages, so while work is underway on one lane, vehicles will cross the border using the other lane. According to information from the Polish side, on May 9 and 16, two lanes leading to the weigh stations for freight vehicles entering Poland will be closed at the border crossing.

On those days, trucks will be processed through the lane designated for buses. Border guards are warning in advance of possible delays when crossing the state border at this section. Drivers and carriers are advised to take these changes into account when planning their trips. The infrastructure upgrades on the Polish side aim to improve the condition of the road surface on the approaches to the terminals.

Full capacity will be restored once all planned construction phases are completed. Trucks and passenger vehicles will be able to use the border crossing as usual after the five-week construction period ends. Coordination between the border agencies of both countries allows for the management of traffic flow during the reconstruction. Detailed information on the current status of queues is available on the official websites of the border agency.
