A record number of French bulldogs gathered in Odessa
A Ukrainian national record was set in Odesa’s Shevchenko Park, where the largest gathering of French bulldogs in the country’s history took place at a single location. The event turned into a large-scale gathering of owners from various cities, which also served as a charitable initiative to support an animal shelter. This was reported by Village and Suspilne Odesa.
The record was set during the Bulldog Party event, which was officially registered by representatives of the Ukrainian Book of Records. The main goal of the event was not only festive but also social—to raise funds to pay off the debts of the “Lyubov Laska” shelter, which cares for animals, including those evacuated from frontline territories.

Participants from various regions of Ukraine—Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kyiv, and Kherson—gathered in Odesa, transforming the park into a lively venue where dozens of owners brought their pets out at the same time. Event organizer Eduard Tarasenko explained that for many owners, French bulldogs are not just pets, but full-fledged family members who require special care and attention. “They’re more like children—they’re not dogs, they’re children, and they need a special approach. And every French Bulldog owner understands that you haven’t taken in a dog, but a child,” he said.

During the record attempt, the organizers counted only French Bulldogs separately to ensure the result was accurate and official, while other breeds were not included in the tally. At the same time, the event remained open to all interested dog owners.

Dog trainers were also on site, advising owners on animal behavior, helping them better understand their pets’ needs, and offering practical training tips. The event combined a record-breaking attempt, charity, and a major city-wide celebration for animal lovers.

In the Volyn region, law enforcement officials uncovered a scheme to illegally import passenger cars under the guise of humanitarian aid for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
