Zelenskyy confirmed the reburial of the OUN leader in Ukraine

Ukraine has launched an official process to reinter the remains of prominent Ukrainian heroes from various eras who defended the cause of independence, fought for the nation, and were buried abroad—in Europe and the United States.

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his official Telegram channel. The head of state emphasized that returning their remains to their homeland is not only an opportunity but also a moral obligation for modern Ukraine.

Currently, this process has already been initiated regarding Colonel Andriy Melnyk and his wife Sofia, who are iconic and revered Ukrainians of the 20th century. In addition, relevant decisions are currently being prepared regarding the reburial of Colonel Yevhen Konovalets and other prominent historical figures. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the Ukrainian people deserve their true historical memory, and the state continues to strengthen it.

The team at the Office of the President is currently focused on implementing this important task. The Head of State also expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who is helping Ukraine carry out this process and concluded his address with the traditional slogan “Glory to Ukraine!”

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision to reinter the remains of Andriy Melnyk, head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, and his wife, Sofia Fedak-Melnyk, in Ukraine.

In Luxembourg, the remains of Andriy Melnyk, head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, and his wife Sofia were exhumed, after which their remains are being prepared for reburial in Ukraine. The event took place with the participation of Ukrainian representatives and is part of the process of returning historical figures to their homeland.
