The Armed Forces of Ukraine plan to raise the minimum wage to 30,000 hryvnias

The Armed Forces of Ukraine plan to set the minimum salary for military personnel at 30,000 hryvnias, according to a statement by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. The aim is to revise the approach to military pay in order to strengthen social guarantees and motivation.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing for changes to the pay system, and the key news is that the minimum salary for military personnel may be raised to 30,000 hryvnias, as announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

According to him, this decision is being considered as part of a broader approach to strengthening social protection for military personnel who carry out their duties daily in the conditions of full-scale war, and for whom the level of financial support must correspond to the realities of service. “The minimum salary for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel will be 30,000 hryvnias,” reads the statement released by Syrskyi.

In essence, this is an attempt to standardize the base pay level for all military personnel, regardless of rank or unit, to ensure more stable conditions of service and reduce the financial burden on the families of defenders.

Military leadership emphasizes that the issue of financial support is one of the key factors in maintaining the army’s combat readiness, as it directly affects motivation, unit stability, and the ability to recruit new personnel.

It is specifically noted that these changes are not a one-time measure but part of a systemic reform that takes into account the actual expenses of military personnel and the need to raise social protection standards during wartime.

In Kyiv, a significant increase in public transportation fares to 30 hryvnias per trip is being prepared, which could cause the capital to rise sharply in European rankings and join the ranks of cities with the most expensive public transportation. If the new fares take effect, monthly transportation costs for city residents will increase severalfold and approach the levels of major European capitals.
