An FSB informant was sentenced to 8 years in prison for spying on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions

A court has sentenced an FSB informant, who was detained in Sumy in September 2025, to eight years in prison.

This was reported by the SBU.

According to the investigation, he hitchhiked through various regions of Ukraine to gather information on the positions of the Defense Forces in order to prepare strikes.

The suspect turned out to be a drug-addicted resident of Sumy who was recruited via Telegram channels while he was looking for money.

Initially, he tracked air defense positions in his region, and later was assigned to work in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

In Pavlohrad, he rented two apartments, in one of which he installed a camera with remote access for Russian intelligence services.

He also recorded the geolocations of checkpoints and fortifications in the Pokrovsk direction.

He was detained upon his return to Sumy while preparing a report to be sent to the FSB.

The court found him guilty of disseminating information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under martial law.
