An Ukrenergo engineer has been notified of charges related to losses incurred during the construction of protective structures
A senior engineer with the construction supervision team at one of the divisions of PJSC "NPC "Ukrenergo" has been notified that he is suspected of professional negligence during the construction of a concrete fence around a strategic energy facility.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
The official signed the acceptance certificates for the completed work without verifying that the materials used complied with the design and cost estimate documentation. This allowed the private contractor, which was erecting a concrete fence around a strategic energy facility in 2024, to use lower-grade concrete mix and enter false data into the documents.
As a result of the engineer’s improper performance of his duties, the state-owned company “Ukrenergo” suffered property damage amounting to nearly 600,000 hryvnias. The penalty under the charged article provides for imprisonment for a term of two to five years, with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in related activities for up to three years, as well as a fine. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Podil Police Department in Kyiv, with operational support from employees of the SBU’s Department for the Protection of National Statehood. Law enforcement officials are also preparing a legal assessment of the actions of representatives of the contracting organization.
Law enforcement officers in the Kyiv region have uncovered a large-scale scheme to embezzle funds intended for humanitarian aid. According to the investigation, approximately 27 million hryvnias allocated to support de-occupied communities were misappropriated. Investigative actions are currently underway to identify all individuals involved in the scheme.
Kyiv police dismantled an interregional cocaine distribution network worth 8 million hryvnias.
