Ivchenko stated that there are insufficient funds to pay military salaries for the next two months
Ukraine’s domestic resources allocated to the Ministry of Defense have been critically depleted, Ivchenko stated. According to him, funds to pay military personnel’s salaries may last less than two months.
Vadym Ivchenko, a representative of the “Batkivshchyna” faction, warned of this situation regarding defense sector funding.
According to the politician, the state is effectively exhausting its financial reserves—which were intended to last until the end of the year—ahead of schedule. The situation has reached a dead end, as there are insufficient funds not only to increase benefits but even to pay standard salaries of up to 20,000 hryvnias.
“We don’t even have enough funds to pay salaries for two months—excuse me—up to 20,000 hryvnias, at all. I’ve said before that we have a budget disaster, and we need budget amendments and assistance from partners just to plug the hole. I’m not even talking about raising anything,” the lawmaker emphasized.
Ivchenko stressed that the entire Ukrainian budget goes directly to the military, but these funds are objectively insufficient. To avoid a halt in funding for military personnel, parliament must adopt urgent budget amendments, and the government must secure additional funds from international allies.
