The Cabinet of Ministers has expanded the staff of the Media Ombudsman: the secretariat will add 25 new positions
On August 3, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine increased the maximum number of employees at the Secretariat of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language from 40 to 65. The decision was made to strengthen the institution’s role in protecting the Ukrainian language and to implement a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada.

As a result, the Language Ombudsman’s Secretariat will gain 25 new positions. Olena Ivanovska, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, thanked the government for its support and noted that the decision will strengthen her office’s institutional capacity.
“We thank the representatives of the government and, in particular, Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretskyi and Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy—Minister of Culture of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna—for their comprehensive support, constructive cooperation, and significant contribution to strengthening our institutional capacity. The increase in staff will allow us to ensure the presence of the Commissioner’s representatives in most regions of Ukraine as early as 2027,” Ivanovska emphasized.
According to her, expanding the staff will make it possible to respond more promptly to citizens’ inquiries, strengthen state oversight of compliance with language legislation directly in the regions, interact more effectively with state and local government bodies, and ensure more effective protection of citizens’ right to receive information and services in the state language.
Olena Ivanovska also noted that the Commissioner’s representatives in the regions will not only respond to violations of language legislation but will also carry out preventive work, provide explanations, conduct monitoring, and collaborate with local communities.
“Having a representative of the Commissioner in every region provides an opportunity not only to respond to violations of language legislation but also to carry out preventive work, provide explanations, conduct monitoring, interact with local communities, and ensure the consistent implementation of the state language policy in the regions,” she noted.
