The head of the patrol police proposed a new penalty for traffic violators

Oleksiy Biloshitsky, head of the Patrol Police Department, spoke in favor of introducing a penalty point system in Ukraine for drivers who systematically violate traffic rules. According to him, once a driver accumulates a certain number of points, their driver’s license should be suspended, and the offender must retake the driving exams to regain their driving privileges.

Commenting on the possibility of impounding or confiscating vehicles for systematic and brazen violations, the official called this an extreme measure that should be applied only when other measures have failed. He also noted that the penalty of confiscation is already provided for under current Ukrainian law for driving under the influence for the third time within a year.

As a reminder, the police have warned Ukrainians about fake fines for traffic violations.

Fines for speeding will increase sharply in Ukraine.

Over the past year, the number of reserved workers in Ukraine has increased significantly—by approximately 300,000 people—and the number of enterprises recognized as critically important to the economy has also risen. The government attributes these changes to the expansion of the “reservation” mechanisms, particularly for frontline regions, and is preparing to update the regulations.
