Khmara and Drapatiy Outlined the Priorities for the Defense Forces
Acting Minister of Defense Yevhen Khmara reported on his first working meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapati, following which the parties identified key areas for joint work.
According to Khmara, the priorities include developing technology, equipping the military with long-range weapons, scaling up deep strike, middle strike, and ground-based robotic systems programs, as well as protecting the lives of Ukrainian servicemembers. He specifically noted that one of the priorities is to shift the war onto Russian territory using asymmetric solutions.
Khmara added that the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff are already working on practical steps to implement these objectives. According to him, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has endorsed this shared vision for the development of the Defense Forces.

Yevhen Khmara, Ukraine’s acting Minister of Defense, will be responsible not only for issues related to strikes on Russian territory but will also carry out a broader range of security tasks.
As a reminder, following Yevhen Khmara’s appointment as Acting Minister of Defense, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined his main task. According to the head of state, the key focus of his work will be overseeing the long-range operations of the Ukrainian Security Forces.
