The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra will partially resume operations following emergency repairs
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve will partially resume welcoming visitors starting June 19, following several days of emergency rescue and disaster prevention work.
Following the resumption of operations, the following will be open to visitors:
- The Near Caves;
- The Great Lavra Bell Tower;
- The Church of the Savior on Berestove;
- The Refectory Church;
- Museum exhibitions.
Group tours are also resuming and will be conducted by appointment.
The reserve emphasized that despite the consequences of the Russian attack and the damage to the shrine, life at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra continues.
Today, in the Near Caves, a traditional prayer service with an akathist was held at the relics of St. Agapit of the Caves.
The service was led by the monastery’s abbot, Bishop Avraam of Boryspil. The monastery’s monastic community, pilgrims, and the faithful participated in the prayer service.
The reserve emphasizes that even under difficult conditions, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra remains a place of prayer, historical memory, and spiritual unity for Ukrainians.
Earlier, after three years of being closed to the public, the Near and Far Caves of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra were reopened to the faithful and visitors in a renovated format.
During a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the G7 summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed photographs of the aftermath of the Russian attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported to Reuters by unnamed European diplomats.
As a reminder, Russia attacked the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, causing a fire.
Prior to that, Russian drones struck the Zaporizhzhia region, leaving several people injured.
As a result of the Russian attack on Kharkiv, five State Emergency Service rescuers were killed.
