The Kyiv Children's Railway kicks off the summer season in Syrets Park

This weekend, April 25–26, the summer season of the children’s railway will kick off at Syrets Park in Kyiv. On the eve of the opening, a symbolic inaugural ride took place, and the best young railway workers were honored.

Train operations are managed by the facility’s students, who perform various roles—from engineers and conductors to station attendants.

This was reported with reference to Ukrzaliznytsia.

This year, seven young railway workers received a new award—“For Dedication to the Railway Cause.” These are students who have excelled in mastering their profession over the past five years and plan to build their future with Ukrzaliznytsia.

The Kyiv Children’s Railway is an educational facility of Ukrzaliznytsia where schoolchildren receive career guidance and vocational training in railway specialties and professions, while also providing passenger transportation services to anyone interested. It is located in Syrets Park in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital (4 Parkovo-Syretska St.), has a total length of 3.7 km, two stations, and one platform.

The rolling stock consists of a steam locomotive, three diesel locomotives, 11 passenger cars, three freight cars, and a handcar. Typically, trains are operated by a diesel locomotive pulling several passenger cars; on special occasions, a steam locomotive is used as the locomotive.
