The High Anti-Corruption Court has arrested suspects in a case involving the extortion of a $1 million bribe

The High Anti-Corruption Court has imposed strict preventive measures on the defendants in a case involving the extortion of $1 million in illicit gains.

This was officially announced on Facebook by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

The judge ruled to take into custody a high-ranking official of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the head of a private company that manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles.

The suspects’ defense attempted to challenge the severity of the restrictions, but law enforcement took an uncompromising stance. It is noted that the High Anti-Corruption Court remanded both suspects into custody with the option of posting bail.

For each participant in the corruption scheme, the court set individual bail amounts, taking into account their financial status and degree of involvement in the crime.

“For the State Border Service official, the bail amount is 4 million hryvnias; for the businessman, it is 44,262,000 hryvnias,” representatives of the SAPO clarified.
