A parliamentary committee has endorsed a bill on a registry of bank accounts and safe deposit boxes
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy has endorsed government bill No. 14327, which provides for the creation of a registry of Ukrainians’ bank accounts and safe deposit boxes.
This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The document is part of Ukraine’s preparations to join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
The Ministry of Finance notes that the registry will contain only basic information—IBAN, the account holder’s name, and the bank’s name. Data on account balances, account transactions, or the contents of safe deposit boxes will not be shared.
At the same time, a number of government agencies will have access to the registry, including the State Financial Monitoring Service, NABU, the Bureau of Economic Security, the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police, and the Security Service of Ukraine.
The bill also provides for the creation of a separate registry of ultimate beneficial owners of trusts and similar structures.
It is expected that the provisions regarding these registries will take effect after Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
The Tax Service is conductingtechnical work: service disruptions are possible.
