Kuleba voiced his support for singer Olya Polyakova following her controversial statements
Former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba commented on the controversial remarks made by singer Olia Polyakova. He stated that he agrees with her view regarding the persecution of Ukrainians who have remained in the country and continue to work for its benefit.
At the same time, the diplomat did not endorse the comparison of Ukraine to a concentration camp, calling such a characterization factually incorrect.
Kuleba noted that he agrees with Polyakova’s view that Ukrainians are harassing those who help the country and chose to remain in Ukraine during the war. The former official considers the singer’s words to be “true.”
“But overall, I want to say that I share her main point and support her when she says that those who are here—those who have decided to live in Ukraine and contribute to their country—are the ones being targeted the most. It’s our own people who are being attacked the most. That’s the truth,” Kuleba said.
Dmytro also supported Olia Polyakova’s point that a distinct segment of society has formed on social media that demands apologies from people in certain conflicts or scandals.
The former foreign minister explained that instead of engaging in discussion, people demand public apologies and criticize others without cause. “I agree with her on this and have even expanded on her point: a segment of society has formed on social media in Ukraine, and its main purpose is to make everyone apologize to them. They have a whole system of coordinates there. Well, some say, ‘Apologize there,’ while others very wisely write that instead of engaging in aggressive debates with those who offer constructive, well-founded criticism: ‘You could just apologize, and the matter would be settled,’” said the former foreign minister.
Separately, Dmytro Kuleba commented on how Olga Polyakova compared Ukraine to a concentration camp. This, in Kuleba’s opinion, was unnecessary. “The only thing I think is that Olga Polyakova went too far. Well, comparing Ukraine to a concentration camp is factually incorrect,” Kuleba added.

Olga Polyakova has found herself embroiled in a new scandal over her statements about concentration camps and the TCC.
Previously, singer Olga Polyakova—who had been denied participation in the national selection for Eurovision 2026 due to performances in Russia after 2014—published a new letter to “Suspilne.” In it, the artist called for changes to the contest rules ahead of the Eurovision 2027 selection.
Ukrainian singer Olya Polyakova explained why she has a positive attitude toward Russian artists Maxim Galkin and Alla Pugacheva. She stated that she judges people not by their nationality but by their actions, and believes that the couple chose to leave Russia because they disagreed with the regime and support Ukraine.
