Frost has set in on Mount Pip Ivan, and the first snow has fallen
The first autumn frost and snow were recorded in the Carpathians. On the morning of September 22, the air temperature on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi dropped to -1°C, and the summit was covered in snow.
As of 8:00 a.m. on September 22, cloudy weather was observed on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi.
The air temperature was -1°C, and a westerly wind was blowing at a speed of about 4 m/s.
Due to a sharp drop in temperature, the highlands of the Carpathians were blanketed in snow. Rescuers shared photos of the snow-covered mountaintop.
The deterioration of weather conditions in the Carpathians occurred amid a general cooling trend across Ukraine.
On Tuesday, September 22, forecasters predict cloudy weather with some sunny intervals and rain in several regions.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, moderate rain is expected across Ukraine, with heavy rain in the northern regions overnight. In most central and southern regions, light rain is possible in some areas during the day.
Winds will be predominantly westerly, at 5–10 m/s.
On September 22, it will be coldest in the western regions, as well as in the Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions.
Overnight temperatures there will range from 4–9°C, and daytime temperatures from 10–15°C.
Warmer weather will persist in eastern and southeastern Ukraine: 11–16°C at night and 19–24°C during the day.
In the rest of the country, nighttime temperatures will range from 7–12°C, and daytime temperatures from 12–17°C.
The first snow on Pip Ivan was one of the signs of the sharp autumn cold snap that hit Ukraine in late September.
