Lyashko explained the process for releasing medical personnel from their civilian duties to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Health Minister Viktor Lyashko stated that despite the current 100% mobilization of medical personnel from state and municipal institutions, certain specialists may be exempted from mobilization to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine according to a specific procedure.
According to the minister, following a decision by the National Security and Defense Council, a full reservation of medical personnel was implemented. At the same time, the Command of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, through the Ministry of Defense, submits requests to the Ministry of Health regarding specific specialties needed to strengthen military medicine.
The Ministry of Health then sets quotas and forwards them to regional military administrations, which, together with medical institutions, select candidates. Priority is given to medical professionals who voluntarily agree to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After being discharged from military service, the medical worker signs a one-year contract. Upon completion of service, they have the right to return to their previous place of employment.
Lyashko also stated that he has statistics on the number of medical professionals who have been mobilized, but has not yet disclosed this data. According to him, the information can be provided upon separate request.
