Europe's Most Popular Electric Cars Named – Reuters

The Tesla Model Y and Skoda Elroq remain the leaders in the European electric vehicle market, while models from the Volkswagen Group continue to see rising sales. The top ten most popular electric cars also include models from Renault, BMW, and Audi.

 

According to data from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence cited by Reuters, more than 2 million plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles were registered worldwide in June 2026, a 7% increase from a year earlier. At the same time, in Europe alone, approximately 530,000 were registered in June 2026, a record high.

The top 10 most popular electric vehicles in Europe include:

  • Tesla Model Y;
  • Tesla Model 3;
  • Skoda Elroq;
  • Skoda Enyaq;
  • Volkswagen ID.3;
  • Renault 5;
  • Volkswagen ID.4;
  • Volkswagen ID.7;
  • BMW i4 / iX3;
  • Audi Q4 e-tron.

At the same time, unlike in Europe, electric vehicle sales declined in North America and China. In June, registrations in North America fell by 13%, and in China by 11%, according to Reuters.
