"Forests of Ukraine" is resuming construction of 25 forest roads across five branches
In April, the state-owned enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" will resume work on 25 forest road construction projects with a total length of nearly 90 km.
This was reported by the company’s press service.
Construction of the facilities began in the fall of 2025 in the Carpathian, Northern, Podillia, Polissia, and Kyiv branches. Work was suspended for the winter, but contractors are now resuming the projects.
“During the construction of forest roads, intermediate storage facilities are planned for the storage, sorting, and shipment of forest products. Road signs and signal posts are being installed. Economic and social factors are taken into account during implementation, and fire safety measures are being ensured,” the statement reads.

The company’s press service emphasizes that the new road in the Nadvirna Forest District, stretching over 2 km, will provide access to forest stands with a timber reserve of 22,700 cubic meters. In the Korosten Forest District, the completion of the 3-kilometer road will make it possible to shorten the route for logging trucks by 10 km. It is expected that thanks to logistics optimization, the cost per cubic meter of timber in this area will decrease by approximately 20%.
At the same time, construction in the Putyl Forest District will shorten the route for residents of mountain villages to the district center by 10 km. Additionally, major repairs to the road in the Mekshuniv Forestry of Chernihiv Oblast will ensure firefighting vehicles can reach a body of water, which will be equipped with a pier for rapid water intake.
Overall, the state-owned enterprise’s plans for 2026 include the construction of 60 forest roads with a total length of over 200 km.
It is worth noting that after the war ends, Ukraine may face the need to introduce toll roads due to the massive infrastructure restoration requirements.
Since the beginning of the year, over 1 million square meters of road surface damage have been repaired in Ukraine—the highest figure in the last six years.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has instructed the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development to intensify the search for additional resources to repair roads under state guarantees and with the participation of international partners.
