Lubinec Responded to the Mobilization of a Single Father in Kryvyi Rih

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada’s Human Rights Commissioner, responded to reports of the mobilization of a 34-year-old resident of Kryvyi Rih who was raising his 5-year-old daughter on his own. Official inquiries have already been sent to the relevant authorities to clarify all the circumstances of the case.

According to the ombudsman, at the time of the man’s mobilization, his daughter was at preschool and was effectively left without a single adult to care for her.

It is also reported that the man applied twice for a deferment from mobilization but was denied both times.

“I have already instructed my representative in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksiy Urlatkin, to immediately investigate all the circumstances of this situation. The regional team has already sent official inquiries to the Pokrovsk-Ternivsk District Territorial Mobilization Center and Joint Staff, the Child Welfare Service of the Kryvyi Rih City Council Executive Committee, as well as the executive committees of the Ternivsk and Pokrovsk district councils within the city,” said Dmytro Lubinets.

Representatives of the Ombudsman are investigating the legality of the man’s mobilization, as well as the circumstances under which the young child was left without parental care.

Special attention will be paid to the actions of the authorities in ensuring the rights, safety, and proper care of the 5-year-old girl.

“The focus of such stories should never be on procedure or formalities. Mobilization is necessary for a country that is defending itself. But the strength of a state is measured not only by its ability to act quickly—but also by its ability to see the human being in every decision,” Lubinets emphasized.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that in Kryvyi Rih, a single father was taken to a regional recruitment center, after which his 5-year-old daughter was left at a kindergarten under the care of the facility’s director.

An investigation into the circumstances of the case is currently underway, and the relevant authorities are required to provide an explanation regarding the legality of the decisions made and the protection of the child’s rights.
