Lubinec stated that the investigation into the Skelya Regiment is still ongoing, but a case has already been opened

The investigation by the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights into possible mistreatment of military personnel in the “Skelya” regiment has not yet been completed. At the same time, criminal proceedings have already been opened based, in particular, on evidence gathered during the investigation.

“Here’s what I can say publicly at this time. Our investigation is not yet complete. But based on our findings, among other things, a criminal case has been opened. As far as I know, the State Bureau of Investigations has already served the first notice of suspicion. I know it won’t be the last. We have additional information about what happened at ‘Skelya’s’ deployment sites,” Lubinets noted.

He recalled that the Ombudsman’s Office is one of the agencies conducting an investigation into possible abuse within the regiment. He noted that he has not encountered any instances of information being withheld and is receiving full cooperation in carrying out the monitoring.

“It’s no easy task to maintain the image of a truly heroic military unit that has performed many heroic feats and holds one of the most difficult sections of the front line. Recently, there were reports that it was the soldiers of the ‘Rock’ unit who advanced slightly and liberated settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region. But on the other hand, we will certainly not turn a blind eye to the shameful incidents that have occurred in this military unit. “There are no obstacles; there is full cooperation,” the ombudsman emphasized.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets made these remarks in an interview with Novyny.LIVE while answering a question about the results of monitoring at the “Skelya” regiment.

The “Skelya” regiment confirmed that two of their soldiers had been taken prisoner.
