Lviv Polytechnic University topped the ranking of the country's 200 best universities for the first time
Lviv Polytechnic National University topped the “Top 200 Ukraine 2026” academic ranking for the first time, demonstrating the highest figures in terms of the number of applicant applications and the effectiveness of its research.
This result was recorded in the 20th annual ranking, published by the “Euroosvita” Center for International Projects based on recommendations from the IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence expert group.
In compiling the 2026 ranking, experts took into account large-scale structural changes in higher education driven by both domestic reforms and the challenges posed by the full-scale war launched by Russia.
The evaluation process has become more comprehensive: new criteria characterizing universities’ contributions to sustainable development, social responsibility, and international competitiveness have been added to the traditional indicators of educational quality and research activity.
Overall, the following universities made it into the top ten higher education institutions in Ukraine:
- Lviv Polytechnic National University;
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
- Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute National Technical University of Ukraine;
