The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the territorial recruitment and social support centers in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. This decision was prompted by numerous complaints from citizens regarding possible violations, including the confiscation of cell phones, humiliation, and other unlawful actions.
According to Shkurakov, a decision has already been made to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the Mykolaiv and Odesa Territorial Recruitment Centers.
The statement was made in response to a question from People’s Deputy Anton Yatsenko, who drew attention to cases of phones being confiscated from citizens, as well as the hiring of former law enforcement officers—who had been dismissed for corruption or abuse—by the recruitment centers. The MP cited the Uman Territorial Center for Recruitment as an example.
The Ministry of Defense responded to the complaints and announced reforms
Vasyl Shkurakov emphasized that the confiscation of cell phones and the violation of human dignity are unacceptable.
“This is unacceptable. We are personally investigating all cases of phone confiscation or humiliation,” he stated.
According to him, all appeals from members of parliament and other organizations are recorded in separate registries, which should ensure a more prompt response to such cases.
The deputy minister also reported that the head of the Uman Territorial Recruitment Center, Nekrasov, has already been transferred to another position, and work to address the identified issues is ongoing.
In addition, Shkurakov announced that a reform of the territorial recruitment centers will be presented at an upcoming government meeting.
