The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied Kai Kallas's claim that the U.S. Embassy has allegedly left Kyiv
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted a statement by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas claiming that, following threats from Russia, only the U.S. Embassy had allegedly remained in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tykhyi emphasized that reports of the U.S. Embassy’s departure are untrue.
“The information about the U.S. Embassy’s departure is not true,” Tykhyi stated.
Earlier, during an informal meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Cyprus, Kaja Kallas stated that following threats from the Kremlin, all diplomatic missions remained operational in Ukraine except for the American one.
“All European countries remained; America left,” Kallas said.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs promptly responded to this statement and emphasized that the U.S. Embassy continues to operate in Ukraine.
Earlier, the German Embassy in Ukraine stated that it would continue its work in Kyiv despite new threats from Russia and calls to leave the Ukrainian capital.
