Gas station chains in Ukraine earn an average of 3 to 5 hryvnias per liter of gasoline or diesel.
This was reported by Serhiy Kuyun, director of the “A-95 Consulting Company.”
According to the expert, imports of petroleum products account for the largest share of the fuel cost—about 50% of the final price. Currently, Ukraine is forced to import all of its fuel due to the shutdown of the Kremenchuk Oil Refinery.
Taxes—excise and VAT—also make up a significant portion of the price. In the cost structure of diesel fuel, they account for about 35%, and for gasoline—almost 40%.
In addition, the price includes logistics costs, staff salaries, infrastructure maintenance, andnetwork operating expenses.
As Kuyun noted, the net profit of most gas station chains amounts to only 5–7% of the price per liter of fuel.
The expert identified three main categories of fuel networks in Ukraine:
Premium segment
This includes:
SOCAR
OKKO
WOG
Mid-price segment
Operating in this category are:
AMIC
UPG
KLO
"Ukrnafta"
At the same time, the state-owned company Ukrnafta sells fuel at a minimal margin, as it acts as the market’s price regulator.
The budget segment includes BRSM-Nafta, Avantage 7, and Marchal.
According to Kuyun, these three chains together have about 800 gas stations, accounting for approximately 15% of the Ukrainian fuel market.
Experts note that fuel prices in Ukraine will continue to depend largely on import supplies, the tax burden, and the situation on the global oil market.
On May 27, Ukrainian gas stations continued to show a noticeable difference in fuel prices. While some chains have updated their prices for autogas, the largest price gap is observed for gasoline and premium fuel, where drivers can save significantly depending on the station they choose.
The largest gas station chains in Ukraine have updated their fuel prices as of May 27, 2026. The average price of A-95 gasoline is approximately 76.70 UAH per liter, and diesel fuel is approximately 87.35 UAH per liter.
