Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Responded to the Drone Explosion in Bulgaria
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not direct drones toward Bulgaria and are cooperating with Sofia to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi.
According to him, Ukraine is in close contact with the Bulgarian side and is clarifying all the technical details of the incident.
“We can say with certainty that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not intentionally direct any assets toward Bulgaria. We are currently investigating all the circumstances of what happened and all the technical facts,” Tykhyi emphasized.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also assured that Ukraine is fully open to cooperating with the Bulgarian side as part of the investigation.
At the same time, the Foreign Ministry stressed that the root cause of such incidents is the full-scale war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, which poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to other countries in the region.

On the morning of August 8 in Bulgaria, a drone that entered the country’s airspace from the north exploded near the border with Romania. According to Deutsche Welle, the incident occurred in a sunflower field 100 meters from the border.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense stated that the drone, which exploded near a compressor station of the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, was likely of Ukrainian manufacture.
