In Bukovina, a man opened fire on police officers during a search
In the Chernivtsi region, law enforcement officers detained a 54-year-old resident of the village of Yizhivtsi who is suspected of attacking police officers. According to the investigation, the man opened fire during a court-authorized search, wounding two officers, after which he fled and remained in hiding for 11 days.
The incident occurred on July 28. Police officers arrived at the man’s home to conduct a lawful search as part of a criminal investigation into the illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.
During the search, according to law enforcement, the man suddenly grabbed a weapon and opened fire on the police officers.
As a result of the shooting, two criminal investigation officers were wounded. They are currently in the hospital.
After the attack, the man fled and went into hiding in a forest. Law enforcement launched a special police operation in Bukovina to locate him.
For 11 days, police checked possible locations where the suspect might be, combed the area, and analyzed the information they received.
Eventually, law enforcement officers managed to locate him. The man was detained in a building where dry grass was stored.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, police also discovered and seized ammunition. The ammunition was sent for forensic analysis.
Law enforcement officials are currently deciding whether to impose a preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention on the man.

In Kyiv, a 42-year-old man was notified that he was suspected of disorderly conduct after he opened fire in the courtyard of an apartment complex. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the capital.
During an air raid alert, a conflict broke out in the shelter of a school in the Troyeshchyna district of Kyiv, during which a man fired a shot from a revolver loaded with Flobert cartridges.
