In Bukovina, law enforcement officials dismantled a large-scale network facilitating the escape of conscripts to Romania
The Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has uncovered an organized group that had established a lucrative business smuggling men abroad.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The organizer of the scheme turned out to be a 43-year-old resident of the border region, who recruited six accomplices who knew the area inside out to participate in the criminal activity.
The criminals approached the operation with particular diligence, setting up a special “hub” in a border village.
At this location, clients were gathered, given detailed instructions, and prepared for the actual crossing of the state border.
The route ran through dense forest areas, where the men were led in groups of 5–7 people.
To coordinate their actions and avoid encounters with border patrols, the group members used professional radios, thermal imaging cameras, and night vision devices.
The cost of such a “journey” was extremely high, ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 euros per person. To date, the investigation has documented at least four successful smuggling operations, which were used by more than 20 clients.
The group’s total profit from this illegal activity has already exceeded 200,000 euros.
During nearly 40 searches, law enforcement officers seized significant amounts of cash, special communications equipment, and tactical gear.
In one of the houses used as a staging area, police discovered six more men.
They were fully prepared for another illegal border crossing under the supervision of guides.
As a reminder, a foreign national will face trial for passing on information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine and storing weapons.
Earlier, the Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a large-scale explosion in the center of Dnipro by catching a Russian intelligence operative red-handed.
As a reminder, a man was detained in Kyiv for promising “medical exemption” to evade mobilization.
Additionally, a Russian agent who was plotting the assassination of General Biletsky was detained within the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
