In the Cherkasy region, the search continues for a man who went missing while paddling on a body of water. According to rescue workers, the man went missing while on a SUP board on the Dnipro River.

The search efforts conducted the previous day were unsuccessful, so they resumed on July 8. Meanwhile, two people, including a child, died on Ukrainian bodies of water in the past 24 hours alone.

“In total, two people died on Ukraine’s bodies of water over the past day, one of whom was a child. The woman’s body was found in the Khmelnytskyi region in a pond in the village of Lisova Volytsia, and the child’s body was found in the Odesa region, in the Black Sea near the city of Pivdenne,” the report states.

According to the agency’s statistics, 42 people, including two children, have died in Ukraine’s bodies of water since the beginning of July. Since the start of 2026, water has claimed the lives of 378 people, including 52 children.

The State Emergency Service urged citizens to swim only in designated areas and not to neglect water safety rules.

This was reported on July 8 by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on Facebook.

As a reminder, the State Emergency Service released photos of the destruction following a massive Russian strike on Kyiv on the night of July 6.

In Odesa, a 10-month-old infant choked on food while his parents had left him alone.
