A soldier who stole and sold FPV drones will stand trial in Donetsk Oblast
The Donetsk Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Eastern Region has filed an indictment with the court against a servicemember from one of the military units in the Donetsk region.
He is charged with the theft of military property under martial law, pursuant to Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the sergeant, who served as a senior combat medic in the unmanned aerial vehicle company of a mechanized battalion, decided in January 2026 to illegally appropriate military property in order to subsequently sell it and gain personal profit.
The military unit’s inventory included “General Chereshnya” FPV drones, which had been transferred to the unit for combat missions.
According to the investigation, the defendant, taking advantage of his access to the property granted as part of his military service, stole 16 drones.
On May 30, 2026, near the Kharkiv region, the servicemember, according to the investigation, sold the stolen FPV drones for 105,000 hryvnias.
He was subsequently detained by law enforcement officers in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During a search of the scene, law enforcement officers seized cash, FPV drones, and related components.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the theft of military property caused material damage to the state, represented by the military unit, totaling 558,400 hryvnias.
At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered the defendant to be held in pretrial detention. At the same time, he was granted the opportunity to be released on bail.
The indictment has now been submitted to the court for consideration.
In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and by a court verdict.

On September 3, in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, a soldier threatened a passerby with an assault rifle because the person was listening to foreign music. Police detained the man and seized the captured weapon from him.
Ten employees of a military unit’s financial service may have illegally received nearly 4 million hryvnias in additional “combat” payments, even though they were actually working in the rear in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In the documents, they were allegedly listed as military personnel carrying out missions in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
