On Mount Hoverla, rescuers located two hikers who had gotten lost during their descent

On the evening of August 20, two tourists got lost while descending from Mount Hoverla to the Zaroslyak area. The Rescue Service received a report about this at 9:02 p.m.

It is noted that the tourists, born in 2008 and 1978, lost their bearings and were unable to continue the route on their own.

Mountain rescuers from the “Zaroslyak” Search and Rescue Unit set out to find the travelers. The rescuers quickly located the tourists and escorted them to the “Zaroslyak” base.

Both hikers are in satisfactory condition and did not require medical attention.

Rescuers urge hikers to check the weather forecast in advance and plan their route carefully.

When choosing a route, it is important to consider your age, health, physical fitness, and personal capabilities. In case of adverse weather conditions, experts advise postponing a hike in the mountains.

It is also necessary to bring a charged cell phone, a sufficient supply of water, and warm clothing.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine

As a reminder, earlier on Ukraine’s highest peak—Hoverla—more than 30 cimbalom players simultaneously performed the Ukrainian national anthem and the folk dance “Arkan.” The musicians set a new national record by combining Ukrainian tradition with this symbolic location.

A 53-year-old female hiker died in the Carpathians while descending from Hoverla. The woman fell from a waterfall, after which rescuers transported her body to the “Zaroslyak” training and sports base and handed it over to law enforcement officials.
