There are no signs of an attack on Ukraine at the border with Belarus, according to the State Border Guard Service
Ukrainian border guards are currently not observing any concentration of Russian troops along the Belarusian border that could indicate preparations for a new invasion of Ukraine.
The situation at the border remains under control, although Russia continues to pressure Belarus to draw it into the war against Ukraine.
“There are only brief moments when there is a lull… Russia is now actively pressuring Belarus to join the war against us with its own forces,” Demchenko noted.
The State Border Guard Service representative also pointed out that there has recently been a significant increase in the number of Russian drones using Belarusian airspace to launch attacks on Ukraine.
According to him, the accusations made by Alexander Lukashenko’s regime against Ukraine regarding alleged drone attacks are not true.
“Most of the drones that Russia launches for massive attacks on Ukraine enter Belarusian territory and fly through it to subsequently enter Ukraine via the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions. Over the past few weeks, there has been an increase in this tactic,” Demchenko emphasized.
Meanwhile, Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine’s defense minister, stated that Ukraine is prepared to strike military targets on Belarusian territory in the event of an immediate threat.
According to him, if “Shahed”-type attack drones begin to be launched from Belarusian territory or the deployment of relevant infrastructure is detected, Ukrainian forces will take the necessary measures.
“If we see that they are launching from Belarus, building ‘Shahed’ bases, and launching ‘Shaheds,’ then we will attack these bases with a completely different type of UAV. It depends on what kind of threat we face from Belarus,” the expert explained.
He also added that in the event of an attempt by Belarusian units to cross the state border, Ukraine will use FPV drones to repel the threat.
Ukrainian security forces continue to closely monitor the situation in the north and assure that there are currently no signs of a strike force being formed for an offensive from Belarusian territory.
This was stated by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Earlier, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated that the risk of an armed conflict between Russia and Belarus and the West is currently extremely high. According to him, such a confrontation could quickly escalate into a global war.
