Ten men were found in the cargo compartment at the border with Moldova

At the Ukrainian-Moldovan border, customs officials discovered ten men hiding in the cargo compartment of a truck. According to the paperwork, the truck was transporting paper cups and lids, but during an inspection, law enforcement officers also found the men.

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating how the men ended up in the truck and who organized their transport across the state border.

The incident occurred at the “Starokozache” checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Moldova. During a joint inspection of the vehicle, customs officers, border guards, and Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) personnel checked the truck’s cargo compartment.

According to the documents, the truck was carrying Ukrainian-made cargo—paper cups and lids. However, during the inspection of the cargo compartment, law enforcement officers discovered ten men. The State Customs Service reported that the truck was traveling from Ukraine to Moldova. “At the ‘Starokozache’ border crossing, during a joint inspection of the vehicle, 10 men were found in the cargo compartment,” the State Customs Service reported.

Officers from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Border Guard Detachment and the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Odesa Oblast were involved in the inspection. Currently, the authorized agencies are conducting an investigation. Law enforcement officers are documenting the circumstances of the incident and identifying all those involved in the possible organization of the illegal movement of people across the state border without border and customs control. “The relevant authorities are conducting an investigation to document and clarify the circumstances surrounding the movement of individuals across the state border without border or customs control,” the State Customs Service noted.

At this time, law enforcement has not released any official information regarding the identities of the men found, their ages, or possible suspicions against the organizers of the scheme. The investigation is ongoing, according to the State Customs Service.
