At the border with Poland, customs officials discovered contraband shipments of medicines banned in Ukraine worth 4.6 million hryvnias

Customs officers in Lviv, working together with border guards at the Krakivets-Korchova border crossing, prevented the illegal import of a large shipment of medical supplies and professional sewing tools.

During an inspection of a minibus traveling from Poland, law enforcement officers discovered undeclared “Mundjaro Quickpen” syringe pens and British-made sewing needles with a total value of over 5.1 million hryvnias

A report on the violation of customs regulations has already been filed against the driver of the vehicle.

The contraband goods were found inside a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus driven by a 35-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The man deliberately chose the “red corridor” for inspection but declared only household items and personal luggage.

During a thorough inspection of the vehicle, a joint inspection team discovered commercial cargo hidden from inspection.

The main contraband turned out to be 207 “Munjaro Quickpen” pen-style syringes containing an injectable solution, which were manufactured in the Netherlands.

The market value of this shipment of the scarce medication is estimated at over 4.6 million hryvnias. This medication is intended for patients with type 2 diabetes and is also frequently used in the beauty industry for weight loss.

Currently, the official distribution of these medical products within Ukraine is completely prohibited.

In addition to the banned injections, 70,000 professional sewing needles from the well-known British brand John James, valued at 560,000 hryvnias, were found in the car’s interior.

The manufacturer of these high-quality tools for hand-stitching leather is Entaco, a company with a history dating back to 1840. All of the seized goods were confiscated by law enforcement officials for further investigation.

This was reported by the Lviv Customs Office.
