Hackers who were making money on Roblox were caught in Lviv Oblast
In the Lviv region, authorities have uncovered a group of hackers who hacked Roblox accounts and sold them, including to Russia. In just a few months, they managed to make nearly 10 million hryvnias. Charges have already been filed against three members of the scheme, according to .
In Lviv region, law enforcement uncovered a group that profited from hacking other people’s gaming accounts. This involves the popular Roblox platform, where users create games, purchase virtual items, and can accumulate valuable resources.
According to the investigation, the scheme was organized by a 19-year-old resident of Drohobych. Together with two accomplices—aged 21 and 22—he found a way to gain access to other people’s profiles. To do this, they used stolen cookie files. These are special data that allow one to log into an account without entering a password. They verified access using special programs and then selected accounts containing money or rare items.
Over several months—from October 2025 to January 2026—they checked over 610,000 accounts. From these, they selected the most valuable ones. During the investigation, law enforcement officers found 357 files containing such account records.
These accounts were subsequently sold on Russian online marketplaces. Payments were received via cryptocurrency wallets. According to preliminary estimates, the total profit could have reached nearly 10 million hryvnias. During the investigation, 10 searches were conducted. Computers, phones, data storage devices, bank cards, and records were seized. Cash was also found—over 2,500 euros and nearly 35,000 dollars.
Three members of the group were notified of charges under articles regarding theft and unauthorized interference with computer systems.
Separately, law enforcement officials reported that substances resembling cannabis were found in the possession of a 44-year-old acquaintance of the suspects. He was detained, and the seized items were sent for analysis. The man was also charged.
Law enforcement authorities note that the investigation is ongoing. All circumstances of the case are still being established. Under the Constitution of Ukraine, every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
