There are still about 47,000 residents in the Sloviansk community
About 47,000 civilians currently reside in the Sloviansk community in Donetsk Oblast. According to local data, up to 1,000 people leave for safer regions every week.
Vadym Lyakh, head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, reported this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“The Sloviansk city community consists of the city of Sloviansk and three adjacent towns and a village. Today, the community’s population is approximately 47,000; before the full-scale invasion, it was 110,000… We are now observing that approximately up to a thousand people with children are leaving the Sloviansk community every week,” Lyakh said.
He noted that the evacuation from the community has not stopped since the first day of the war. He also reminded that in certain areas, a mandatory evacuation of children has been declared, requiring them to leave with their parents, guardians, or other legal representatives.
“Recently, there were 96 children in these areas; now there are 29 remaining. This territory includes three districts located along the Kyiv–Dovzhansky highway,” stated the head of the MVA.
He once again urged the population to leave, as evacuation saves lives.
According to him, in 2022, following the full-scale invasion, approximately 15,000 people remained in the city of Sloviansk, and 18,000 in the community. “And that is precisely what allowed people to survive, because the enemy strikes were devastating, but there weren’t many people living in the homes or high-rise buildings, so there were few casualties,” Lyakh explained.
In Sloviansk, a man shot and killed a police officer during a document check.
Recently, in the Broshniv-Osadskyi community of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a conscript attacked an alert team with a knife. As a result of the incident, two servicemen from the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center were injured.
Law enforcement officers detained a local resident who opened fire on a TCC alert team in Vinnytsia on February 1.
In Dnipro, law enforcement officials charged a man who stabbed an employee of the Territorial Recruitment Center during alert drills.
