Ukrzaliznytsia trains have received equipment for evacuating passengers

All Ukrzaliznytsia passenger trains have begun to be equipped with special supplies, including flashlights, whistles, megaphones, raincoats, blankets, and glow sticks. The new equipment for train crews is intended to make evacuations safer and more coordinated in the event of an immediate threat.

Ukrzaliznytsia announced this on Telegram.

The additional equipment will help staff illuminate exits, sound alarms, and effectively direct people’s actions during emergencies. Passengers will also be provided with blankets and raincoats to enhance comfort in the event of a forced evacuation from the train cars. The kits will first be distributed to trains on routes where the need for evacuation arises most frequently due to Russian aggression.

The introduction of new safety protocols is part of the ongoing modernization of railway operations under martial law. The company emphasizes that continuous risk analysis allows for the improvement of passenger safety. Equipping the entire train fleet with special equipment is intended to minimize panic and ensure a rapid response by crews to potential threats.

Ukrzaliznytsia plans to receive its first Alstom UA8AC electric locomotive in the first quarter of 2027, with a total of 55 such locomotives expected to be delivered by the end of 2029.

Ukrzaliznytsia has launched online sales of discounted student tickets.
