A scheme involving the forgery of foreign documents to evade mobilization was uncovered in the Mykolaiv region
In the Mykolaiv region, law enforcement officials uncovered a scheme in which counterfeit foreign documents were produced for Ukrainian citizens subject to military conscription, allowing them to evade military registration checks and move freely throughout the country.
This was reported by law enforcement officials.
According to the investigation, the scheme was organized by a resident of Odesa and a citizen of Moldova.
For $6,000, they offered clients a package of fake documents, including a Romanian or Bulgarian passport, a foreign passport, and a driver’s license.
The investigation established that the documents were produced in Moldova using the personal data of real foreigners, but with photographs of Ukrainians subject to military conscription.
They sought out clients via messaging apps, and the money was exchanged during in-person meetings.
Law enforcement officers documented the receipt of two payments of illicit benefits. After the forged documents were handed over, both suspects were detained.
During searches, authorities seized the fake documents, mobile phones, and correspondence which, according to investigators, confirms coordination among the scheme’s participants.
The court imposed a preventive measure on both suspects—detention without the right to bail.
In accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
