Free transportation for visitors will be provided at Lviv’s largest cemetery
In Lviv, there are plans to launch a free shuttle bus to transport visitors at the Holosko Cemetery.
This was reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council.
The new service is intended to facilitate access to burial sites, primarily for the elderly, people in wheelchairs, and visitors with limited mobility. The city council is currently working on the route, schedule, and operational details of the service.
The Holosko Cemetery is the largest in Lviv and one of the three largest in Ukraine. It covers an area of over 100 hectares and contains more than 150,000 graves.
For transportation purposes, the city received a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus from the German organization Rosinen Initiative. The vehicle was transferred to the Municipal Ceremonial Service.
The transfer of the vehicle took place with the support of the sister city of Würzburg as part of a project to improve civil protection and reconstruction, which is being implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German government.
As a reminder, in January, environmental activists won a court case against the Cabinet of Ministers to protect the Markhalivsky Forest.
In August 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the implementation of the NVMC project in the Hatne community near Kyiv by August 2025. Later, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs announced plans to begin construction of the NVMC in the Hatne community near Kyiv at the end of November and to commission its first phase by the end of the year. On December 7, 2023, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs presented to the public a preliminary design of the National Memorial Complex and visual designs for standardized headstones.
