The prosecutor's office secured the maximum sentence in two child rape cases
Courts have upheld the sentences of two men convicted of 12 years in prison for the rape of underage girls.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
In the Kirovohrad region, a 34-year-old former law enforcement officer from the Oleksandrivka community was found guilty of raping two girls (Parts 3 and 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). It was proven that in July 2021, knowing the victims’ ages, he committed sexual assault against a 13-year-old acquaintance under the pretext of giving her a ride home, and two days later, against another 14-year-old. The court sentenced him to 12 years in prison. The prosecution was represented by the head of the Kirovohrad Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the appellate court upheld the 12-year prison sentence for a 43-year-old resident of Dnipro who had filed an appeal seeking to overturn the lower court’s decision. Prosecutors from the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved that between 2024 and 2025, the convicted man raped his partner’s 14-year-old daughter.
Under psychological pressure, he forced the child to engage in sexual acts and blackmailed her, claiming he had provocative videos of her and would show them to her mother and others. The girl remained silent for a long time, but to document the crimes, she turned on the voice recorder on her phone. She told her mother about what she had gone through only after her mother ended the relationship with the abuser.
The number of sexual crimes has risen sharply in the EU.
