Platoon commander and two subordinates to stand trial in Odesa region over “fictitious service”
Prosecutors from the Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region have sent indictments to court against a communications platoon commander and two of his subordinates, accused of organising a scheme to illegally obtain military pay.
This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, in December 2024 the commander created a “fictitious service” scheme: one of the servicemen, who was not actually present in the unit, continued to receive a salary and additional payments. The officer allegedly entered false information into official documents and concealed the subordinate’s absence from his superiors.

Between December 2024 and September 2025, more than UAH 430,000 was unlawfully accrued under this scheme. The funds were initially transferred to the commander via bank transactions and later handed over in cash through an intermediary, after another serviceman was involved.

In addition, in September 2025 the commander demanded and received $2,000 from a subordinate in exchange for “protection” and the continued operation of the scheme.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the case has been referred to court for consideration.
Earlier, in Dnipro, law enforcement uncovered a scheme enabling illegal travel abroad during martial law through fictitious paternity registration, also reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
In Kyiv, a former acting director of a municipal enterprise was notified of suspicion for allegedly offering employment in exchange for money, with the promise of obtaining deferment from mobilisation.
