In the Odesa region, teenagers tortured a 12-year-old fellow villager and filmed the abuse
In the Rozdilnyanskyi District of the Odesa Region, two minors were notified that they were suspected of torturing a 12-year-old fellow villager. The teenagers beat and choked the boy, filmed their actions, and later shared the video on social media.
Law enforcement learned of the incident while monitoring the internet. Police discovered a video showing a group of teenagers tormenting the boy and subsequently identified all those involved in the incident.
According to law enforcement, in late July, three boys aged 14, 16, and 17 got into an argument with a 12-year-old fellow villager.
After the conflict, the older teenagers decided to “teach him a lesson” and lured the boy away from his home.
“To teach the minor a lesson, the older teenagers lured him away from his home to a wooded area, where they began to bully, beat, and choke him. The youths recorded their illegal actions on video and later shared it on social media,” the police statement said.
Law enforcement officers identified all participants in the incident and gathered evidence regarding their actions.
Based on the evidence gathered, investigators served notices of suspicion to two teenagers aged 16 and 17. They have reached the age at which criminal liability for this offense begins in Ukraine.
They are charged under Part 2 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—torture committed by a group of persons acting in concert against a minor.
“Note: This crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years. The pretrial investigation is ongoing,” the police reported.
The pretrial investigation into the case is ongoing. Law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the role of each participant.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.
Earlier in Pavlohrad, law enforcement officials opened a criminal case after videos appeared on social media showing a minor girl treating animals cruelly.
